SEN Teaching Assistant Opportunity in West London

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming primary school in Hounslow seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil on a full-time, long-term basis.

Role Summary

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to provide dedicated support for a Year 4 pupil with additional learning needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support throughout the school day.
  • Support classroom learning, activities and daily routines.
  • Adapt activities and explain instructions to improve curriculum access.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, engagement and independence.
  • Support emotional regulation and wellbeing.
  • Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil.
  • Work alongside the class teacher and SEN team to implement support strategies.
  • Monitor progress and share observations with relevant staff.

Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have:
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or supporting children with SEN.
  • Experience providing 1:1 support to pupils is desirable.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A patient, calm and nurturing approach.
  • The ability to encourage positive behaviour and engagement.
  • A proactive and flexible attitude.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and supporting children's wellbeing.

Pay and Progression

£95-£115 per day, paid weekly via PAYE.
Rates are determined by relevant SEN experience, previous school-based experience, 1:1 support experience and knowledge of supporting pupils with additional learning needs.
The highest rate of £115 per day is typically available to candidates who can demonstrate significant SEN experience, a strong understanding of behaviour support strategies and a proven ability to support pupils effectively on a one-to-one basis.
