Role Summary
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help pupils access learning, build confidence and achieve their potential. You may provide general classroom support, work with small groups or offer additional support to pupils with Special Educational Needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support class teachers with lesson delivery and classroom activities.
- Work with pupils individually and in small groups.
- Provide additional support to pupils with SEND where required.
- Prepare and organise learning materials and classroom resources.
- Promote positive behaviour and classroom routines.
- Encourage pupil engagement, confidence and independence.
- Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Build effective relationships with pupils and school staff.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
- Follow school safeguarding procedures at all times.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience working with children is desirable but not essential.
- Experience within a school, nursery, childcare or SEND setting is advantageous.
- A patient, caring and adaptable approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a school team.
- An understanding of primary-aged learning is beneficial.
- Flexibility to work across different school settings.
- Availability for up to five days per week.
- Commitment to safeguarding and supporting children's wellbeing.
- Right to work in the UK.
Pay and Progression
The daily rate for these opportunities ranges from £90 to £110 per day, paid weekly through PAYE.
The highest rate is typically available to candidates who can demonstrate previous school-based experience, SEND support experience, relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications, intervention delivery experience or specialist skills supporting pupils with additional needs.
