Location: Kingston upon Thames
Pay: £95-£110 per day
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term until July 2027
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday

Role Summary

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists and support staff to help pupils access learning and achieve their individual goals. You will play an important role in promoting independence, confidence and engagement throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a range of additional needs
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support as required
  • Work closely with teachers and therapists
  • Encourage independence, confidence and participation
  • Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Support pupils with social and emotional development
  • Assist with classroom activities and differentiated learning
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff

Candidate Requirements

  • Positive, patient and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to supporting children and young people
  • Experience working with children or vulnerable adults is desirable but not essential
  • Child and Adult Enhanced DBS, or willingness to obtain one
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare

Pay and Progression

Pay ranges from £95 to £110 per day depending on relevant experience, qualifications and responsibilities within the role.
Candidates with previous SEND experience, specialist knowledge of autism or complex needs, relevant qualifications, or experience supporting children and young people in educational or care settings may be considered for opportunities at the upper end of the pay scale.
