SEN Teaching Assistant Opportunity
Tradewind Recruitment is working with a highly regarded primary school in West London seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist Autism Resource Provision (ARP).
This is an excellent opportunity to support pupils with Autism within a dedicated specialist provision while benefiting from the resources and opportunities available within a large mainstream primary setting. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils' communication, independence and overall development.

The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant within the ARP, you will work closely with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals to provide targeted support for pupils with Autism and associated learning needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with Autism on a one-to-one and small-group basis
- Develop communication, interaction and social skills
- Support sensory regulation and emotional wellbeing
- Use visual supports and communication strategies
- Assist pupils within both the ARP and mainstream classrooms where appropriate
- Promote independence, confidence and engagement with learning
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and external specialists
- Provide a calm, consistent and nurturing approach throughout the school day
Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND
- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar role
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Patient, nurturing and consistent approach
- Ability to support pupils with a range of needs
- Commitment to supporting inclusion and positive pupil outcomes
Desirable Requirements
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Team Teach, Makaton or PECS training
- Experience working within a specialist provision or ARP
- Knowledge of sensory regulation and communication strategies
Pay and Progression
Pay for this position ranges from £95 to £115 per day, depending on experience, qualifications and assignment requirements.
The highest available rate of £115 per day would typically be offered to candidates with substantial Autism support experience, specialist SEND training, experience within ARPs or specialist provisions, and a proven ability to support pupils with complex communication and learning needs independently.
