SEN Teaching Assistant

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
Pay: £95-£110 per day, dependent on experience and individual assignment
Pay structure: Weekly PAYE

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a primary school in Finchley, Barnet looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join its team on a full-time, long-term temporary basis.

You'll support pupils with additional needs within the classroom, working closely with teaching staff to support learning, engagement, communication and wellbeing.

The school is particularly looking for someone with previous experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), alongside relevant EYFS experience.

The Role

Responsibilities may include:

Supporting pupils with SEN and additional learning needs.
Providing individual and small-group support where required.
Supporting children with ASD within a primary school environment.
Helping pupils access classroom learning and activities.
Adapting activities and support strategies to meet individual needs.
Supporting communication, engagement and emotional regulation.
Encouraging pupils' confidence, independence and participation.
Establishing consistent routines and expectations.
Working collaboratively with class teachers and wider support staff.
Monitoring pupils' engagement and sharing relevant observations with school staff.
Following safeguarding procedures and supporting children's wellbeing.

You'll need:

Previous SEN Teaching Assistant experience, essential.
Previous experience supporting children with ASD, essential.
Previous EYFS experience, essential.
Experience supporting pupils with additional needs within a primary school or similar education setting.
A patient, nurturing and consistent approach.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
The ability to work effectively alongside teachers and wider school staff.
Up-to-date safeguarding knowledge.
A commitment to supporting children's learning and wellbeing.
