Introduction
Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join the Additional Resource Provision (ARP) within a welcoming primary school in South Harrow. This is an excellent opportunity to support pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and additional communication needs in a specialist setting while also helping them access mainstream learning opportunities.

Role Summary
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help pupils access learning, develop key communication skills and achieve their individual targets. The role offers a rewarding mix of specialist SEND support and inclusive classroom practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with MLD and additional learning needs
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support
- Help pupils develop communication, literacy and numeracy skills
- Support children with sensory and communication needs
- Use visual timetables, Now & Next boards and other visual resources
- Assist with delivering differentiated learning activities
- Support pupils as they transition between the ARP and mainstream classrooms
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interactions
- Build strong relationships with pupils, colleagues and families
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND
- Experience supporting pupils with MLD, ASD, communication needs or learning difficulties
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to adapt support and learning activities to meet individual needs
- A genuine passion for helping children make progress and achieve their potential
Experience working within an ARP, specialist school, resource base, SEN department or similar setting would be highly desirable.
Pay and Progression
This role offers £95-£115 per day PAYE.
The highest rate of £115 per day is typically available to candidates who can demonstrate significant SEN experience, a strong understanding of communication and learning needs, experience delivering targeted interventions, and the ability to support pupils effectively across both specialist and mainstream environments.
