Independent Nursery & Prep School | Part-time | Long-term temporary position

Contract: Until July 2027
Working pattern: Flexible, including five mornings per week, two full days or a similar arrangement
Hours: Typically 8:00am-1:00pm or 12:00pm-6:00pm, depending on the agreed schedule
Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming independent nursery and prep school looking for an experienced Reception Teacher or Level 3 Early Years Practitioner to lead a small Reception class on a part-time, long-term temporary basis.
This flexible opportunity would suit either a qualified Reception Teacher or an experienced Level 3 Early Years Practitioner with a strong background in Reception and the confidence to take responsibility for a class.
The school is open to different working patterns, including five mornings per week, two full days or a similar arrangement.
The Role
You'll take responsibility for a small Reception class within the nursery setting, providing a nurturing and engaging learning environment where children can develop confidence, independence and the foundations for future learning.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering engaging learning opportunities in line with the EYFS.
- Leading learning within a small Reception class.
- Supporting children's development across the seven areas of learning.
- Creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment.
- Assessing children's learning and adapting provision to meet individual needs.
- Supporting children's communication, language, social and emotional development.
- Establishing positive routines and expectations.
- Working collaboratively with the wider Early Years team.
- Following safeguarding procedures and supporting children's wellbeing.
Who Should Apply?
The school is open to applicants through either of the following routes:
- A qualified teacher with experience teaching Reception; or
- A practitioner holding a Level 3 Early Years qualification with previous experience leading or taking significant responsibility for a Reception class.
You'll also need:
- A strong understanding of the EYFS framework.
- Confidence planning and delivering engaging learning opportunities.
- Experience supporting children's learning and development within Reception or EYFS.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A caring, enthusiastic and professional approach.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of an Early Years team.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and children's wellbeing.
