A welcoming and well-established secondary school in Barking & Dagenham is seeking a reliable and hardworking School Caretaker to join its premises team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced caretaker, facilities assistant, maintenance operative or practical individual looking for flexible shift work within a school environment.

The Role

As a School Caretaker, you will help ensure the school site remains safe, secure, clean and well maintained. Responsibilities may include:

• Opening and securing the school premises.
• Carrying out general maintenance tasks and minor repairs.
• Supporting the day-to-day operation of the school site.
• Completing routine health and safety checks.
• Assisting with contractors and deliveries.
• Maintaining outdoor areas, communal spaces and school grounds.
• Reporting maintenance, security or health and safety concerns.
• Responding to the daily needs of the premises team.
• Helping to provide a safe, welcoming and positive environment for students, staff and visitors.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Is reliable, punctual and hardworking.
• Has practical skills and confidence carrying out basic maintenance tasks.
• Can work independently and as part of a team.
• Is flexible and willing to work a variety of shift patterns.
• Demonstrates a professional and friendly approach when dealing with staff, students and visitors.
• Has experience within a caretaker, facilities, premises, maintenance or similar role.

Previous experience working within a school environment is desirable but not essential.
