We are seeking a motivated and creative Art Technician to join a welcoming secondary school in Newham, East London. This is a long-term, term-time-only opportunity to support a busy and successful Art Department.
The role would suit an organised individual with a passion for art, creativity and supporting young people in an educational setting.
The Role
As an Art Technician, you will support teaching and learning by ensuring that resources, materials and equipment are prepared and maintained effectively.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and organising materials, equipment and resources for practical art lessons
- Supporting teachers during practical classroom activities where required
- Maintaining art equipment, tools and materials to a safe and usable standard
- Ensuring art classrooms and workspaces remain safe, tidy and well organised
- Assisting students with the safe use of materials and equipment
- Supporting the day-to-day administration and organisation of the Art Department
- Assisting with displays, exhibitions and the presentation of student work
Person Specification
We welcome applications from individuals who:
- Have experience in an Art Technician role or a similar practical environment
- Are confident working with a range of art materials, tools and equipment
- Have strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Are proactive, reliable and able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Enjoy supporting young people in an educational setting
- Are committed to creating and maintaining a safe and positive learning environment
Previous experience working in a secondary school may be beneficial but is not essential. We welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills and relevant experience.
