Role Summary
As a DT & Art Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring practical lessons run smoothly by preparing resources, maintaining equipment and supporting teachers and students within specialist learning environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up materials, tools and equipment for DT and Art lessons.
- Support teachers during practical classroom activities.
- Maintain workshops, classrooms and specialist teaching areas.
- Check, organise and maintain equipment and resources.
- Assist with stock control and ordering materials.
- Support students with the safe use of tools, equipment and materials.
- Promote and follow health and safety procedures at all times.
- Assist with the display, storage and presentation of students' work.
- Carry out basic equipment maintenance where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support effective lesson delivery.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience within a DT, Art, workshop, construction, manufacturing or practical environment.
- Good knowledge of tools, materials and practical equipment.
- Strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A practical and proactive approach to work.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
- Previous school-based experience is desirable but not essential.
- Right to work in the UK.
Pay and Progression
The daily rate for this position ranges from £95 to £110 per day.
The highest rate is typically available to candidates who can demonstrate previous technician experience within a school setting, strong practical workshop skills, specialist DT or Art knowledge, relevant health and safety qualifications, and experience maintaining practical equipment and resources.
