SEN Teaching Assistant - Mainstream Primary SEN Unit

Location: Preston
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Contract: Full-time / Part-time / Temporary

Tradewind Recruitment Agency is looking for a compassionate and skilled SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with special educational needs within a mainstream primary school SEN unit. This is a rewarding role for someone who is committed to helping every child reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with a range of special educational needs, including social, emotional, and learning difficulties.

  • Work one-to-one or in small groups to implement learning programs tailored to individual needs.

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.

  • Observe, monitor, and report on pupil progress and development.

  • Promote positive behaviour, social skills, and emotional well-being.

  • Support with classroom organisation and preparation of resources.

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN in a school setting.

  • Relevant qualifications in education or SEN support are desirable (e.g., Level 3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, NVQ).

  • Knowledge of SEN strategies, interventions, and the SEND Code of Practice.

  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and support staff.
