Psychology Graduate - Education & SEN Support (Preston)

We are seeking motivated and analytical Psychology Graduates for specialised support roles within Primary schools in Preston. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain invaluable, frontline experience working with students who have diverse emotional, social, and mental health needs (SEMH) or Special Educational Needs (SEN).

The Role at a Glance
As a Psychology Graduate in a school setting, you will use your understanding of human behaviour to bridge the gap for students facing barriers to learning.
- Behavioural Support: Apply behavioural theory to support students with SEMH needs, helping to implement positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies.
- SEN Specialism: Work 1-to-1 with students with Autism (ASC), ADHD, or other learning difficulties, adapting communication to their specific needs.
- Mental Health Mentoring: Act as a supportive point of contact for students struggling with anxiety or social integration, providing a calm and empathetic presence.
- Data & Progress: Assist the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) in tracking student progress and documenting behavioural observations for EHCP reviews.
- Intervention Leading: Facilitate small group sessions focused on social skills, emotional regulation, and resilience.
What You Need to Succeed
- Education: A recently completed degree (or final year) in Psychology or a related Social Science.
- Aspiration: A genuine interest in pursuing a career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Teaching.
- Attributes: High levels of emotional intelligence, patience, and the ability to remain objective in challenging situations.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills to effectively liaise with teachers and school leadership.
- Compliance: An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (we can assist with a new application if required).
