We are seeking a committed and supportive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Newham.
This rewarding long-term opportunity involves supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including assisting with the day-to-day support of a student with diabetes in accordance with their individual healthcare plan, school procedures and appropriate training.
The Role
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with Special Educational Needs.
- Support a student with diabetes by following agreed healthcare arrangements and school procedures.
- Monitor and report any concerns in line with the student's individual healthcare plan.
- Follow all safeguarding, welfare and support procedures at all times.
- Assist with healthcare-related support duties where appropriately trained, authorised and required by school policy.
- Promote student independence, confidence and engagement in learning.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEND professionals and parents/carers where appropriate.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children or young people, particularly those with Special Educational Needs, or can demonstrate relevant transferable skills.
- Has an understanding of supporting children and young people with additional needs.
- Is willing to undertake any required training relating to student support and wellbeing.
- Demonstrates patience, empathy and a commitment to helping young people achieve their potential.
- Communicates effectively and works well as part of a team.
