Role Summary

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with additional needs to access learning, develop independence and achieve positive outcomes both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and within small groups.
  • Assist pupils with learning, communication and engagement.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and emotional regulation.
  • Support behaviour management strategies where appropriate.
  • Work alongside teachers, therapists and pastoral teams.
  • Help deliver learning activities tailored to individual needs and EHCP targets.
  • Promote positive social interaction and personal development.

  • Speech and Language Needs
  • Learning Disabilities

Candidate Requirements

To be considered for these opportunities, you should have:
  • A Psychology degree.
  • A genuine interest in SEND and child development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy, resilience and a professional approach.
  • A willingness to learn and develop within an educational environment.
Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential for graduates who can demonstrate transferable skills, enthusiasm and a commitment to supporting young people.

Pay and Progression

£95-£120 per day, paid weekly via PAYE.
Rates are determined by relevant experience, additional qualifications, previous work with children or young people and experience supporting individuals with additional needs.
The highest rate of £120 per day is typically available to candidates with previous SEND experience, experience within education, care or youth settings, and the ability to support pupils with more complex learning and behavioural needs.
