About the English Department

The English Department has a long-standing record of strong outcomes at both GCSE and A Level in English Language and English Literature.
The department is committed to mixed-ability teaching across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 and has recently focused on developing an innovative Key Stage 3 curriculum that prepares pupils for GCSE study while fostering a genuine enjoyment of language and literature.
Students benefit from a range of enrichment opportunities including educational visits, reading initiatives and extra-curricular clubs. Staff work collaboratively and are committed to sharing expertise and supporting one another.

Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification recognised in the UK.
  • Strong subject knowledge across English Language and English Literature.
  • A passion for English and a commitment to raising achievement for all learners.
  • Excellent classroom practice and high expectations of student progress and behaviour.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative teaching team.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.

Pay and Progression

Pay is determined using the national teacher pay scale.
This position is paid on the Outer London Teacher Pay Scale MPS-UPS (£39,739-£60,092). The salary offered will reflect the successful candidate's current pay scale point, previous teaching experience and any applicable pay portability considerations.
The highest salary point of £60,092 is typically available to teachers with substantial classroom experience, outstanding subject expertise, a proven track record of raising attainment and the ability to contribute to curriculum development and whole-school improvement.
