Temporary Premises Officer / Caretaker - Secondary School

Pay: £15.00 - £18.00 per hour

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a reliable and proactive Premises Officer / Caretaker to join a supportive secondary school in Greenwich on a temporary basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with previous premises, caretaking, facilities, or site management experience who is looking to work within a welcoming school environment. The school is supportive of its staff and offers opportunities for professional development and progression.

The Role

As a Premises Officer / Caretaker, you will help ensure the school site is safe, secure, well-maintained and suitable for pupils, staff and visitors. Responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the school premises
  • Carrying out routine site checks and reporting any issues
  • Assisting with basic repairs and general maintenance
  • Ensuring the school site is clean, safe and secure
  • Supporting the opening and closing of the school site as required
  • Assisting with deliveries, contractors and site visitors
  • Reporting maintenance, health and safety, or security concerns appropriately
  • Supporting the wider school team with premises-related tasks

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a premises, caretaking, facilities, maintenance or similar role is preferred
  • A degree or relevant qualification is preferred
  • A practical, reliable and proactive approach to work
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a school site team
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and positive environment for pupils and staff
  • Appropriate safeguarding checks will be required in line with school and recruitment requirements
