Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a Science Technician to join a supportive secondary school in Lewisham on a temporary basis.

The Role

As a Science Technician, you will support the Science Department with the preparation of practical lessons, equipment and resources, helping to ensure lessons run safely and effectively.

Key responsibilities may include:

• Preparing and setting up equipment and materials for practical science lessons
• Supporting teaching staff with practical demonstrations and experiments
• Maintaining and organising laboratory equipment and resources
• Ensuring appropriate health and safety procedures are followed
• Assisting with stock management and ordering of scientific supplies
• Cleaning and maintaining laboratory areas and equipment
• Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the Science Department

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• A degree or relevant qualification in a science-related subject is preferred
• Previous experience in a science technician, laboratory or relevant educational setting is preferred
• An understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures
• Good organisational and time-management skills
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team
• A professional and reliable approach to work
• A willingness to learn and develop within the role

Previous experience working within a school is advantageous but is not essential where relevant transferable experience can be demonstrated.
