Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

Slough | Full-time | Long-term temporary position

Start date: ASAP
Duration: Until July 2027
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
Pay: £95-£100 per day PAYE, dependent on experience

A 3-form entry primary school in Slough is looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join its team as soon as possible on a full-time, long-term temporary basis through to July 2027.

The successful candidate will work within EYFS, KS1 or KS2 depending on their experience and the needs of the school. The role may involve general classroom support, small-group intervention work or supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

The school offers spacious learning environments, an established leadership team and a focus on pupil progress and staff development. Staff parking is available on site, and the school is accessible via the Elizabeth line and local transport links.

The Role

You'll support teaching and learning within the classroom, working closely with teachers and other support staff to help pupils engage with learning and make progress.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting teaching and learning within the classroom.
  • Working with individual pupils and small groups.
  • Delivering literacy and maths interventions where required.
  • Supporting pupils with SEN and additional learning needs.
  • Encouraging pupil engagement, confidence and participation in lessons.
  • Assisting teachers with classroom organisation, resources and learning activities.
  • Supporting positive behaviour and inclusion.
  • Adapting support to meet the needs of different pupils and year groups.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and other support staff.

Who Should Apply?

The school is looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant who is confident supporting pupils across a primary school environment.

You'll need:

  • Previous experience working within a UK primary school.
  • Experience supporting children within a classroom or SEN setting.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Confidence supporting learning and working with small groups.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • A reliable and proactive approach with the ability to use your initiative.
  • Flexibility to work across different primary year groups where required.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and supporting children's wellbeing.
