Role Summary
Working closely with the class teacher, you will support pupils across Key Stage 1, helping them access learning, build confidence and develop independence. You will play an important role in creating a positive and engaging classroom experience for all pupils.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with reading, writing, phonics and mathematics
- Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning
- Help pupils remain focused and engaged during lessons
- Support positive behaviour and established classroom routines
- Prepare classroom resources and learning activities
- Assist the teacher with lesson delivery and classroom organisation
- Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
- Support children with a range of learning needs and abilities
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience working with children
- Primary school experience, particularly within KS1, is desirable
- Patient, approachable and reliable attitude
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with young children
- Genuine enthusiasm for supporting children's learning and development
Candidates with transferable experience from childcare, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring or care settings are encouraged to apply.
Pay and Progression
The role pays £95-£105 per day through PAYE.
The exact rate offered will depend on your experience, skills and responsibilities within the role.
Candidates with previous primary school experience, KS1 classroom experience, strong phonics knowledge, intervention delivery experience, relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications, or experience supporting pupils with additional needs may be considered for opportunities at the upper end of the pay scale of £105 per day.
