Are you a creative, practical individual with a passion for art and supporting education? Do you enjoy working behind the scenes to help deliver engaging, hands-on creative lessons in a secondary school environment?
We are currently recruiting for an Art Technician to join a well-established secondary school in Wellingborough. This is a full-time opportunity with the preference for a permanent appointment, although long-term temp-to-perm arrangements will also be considered for the right candidate.
This role would suit someone with an artistic or creative background who enjoys working in a dynamic educational environment and supporting both staff and students across a range of art and design activities.
About the Role
As an Art Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the Art department, ensuring practical lessons run smoothly, safely, and effectively.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and setting up materials, tools, and equipment for practical art lessons
- Supporting teachers and students during practical sessions when required
- Maintaining, cleaning, and organising art studios, equipment, and storage areas
- Assisting with the preparation of displays, exhibitions, and student coursework presentations
- Monitoring stock levels and ordering art materials and supplies as needed
- Supporting the safe use of specialist equipment and materials within the department
- Carrying out basic equipment maintenance and ensuring resources are ready for use
- Assisting with departmental administration, lesson preparation, and resource organisation
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced within an art, design, or creative environment
- Highly organised and proactive, with strong attention to detail
- Confident working independently and as part of a team
- Creative, practical, and enthusiastic about supporting student learning
- A strong communicator with the ability to work effectively with staff and young people
- Aware of health and safety procedures relating to art materials and equipment
Previous experience within an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
