Are you an experienced administrator looking for a high-impact leadership role?

A prestigious independent school in the Blackburn area is seeking a professional and proactive School Office Manager to lead their front-of-house administrative team. Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for ensuring a smooth, centralised support service for staff, students, and parents across both Senior and Prep departments.

This is a vital operational role requiring a blend of team management, project implementation, and high-level administrative expertise within a fast-paced educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and monitor the front-of-house administrative staff, including work allocation, appraisals, and training.

  • Operational Efficiency: Use analytical skills and initiative to deliver solutions to daily operational challenges and ensure the consistent running of the school offices.

  • Communication & Liaison: Filter a wide range of enquiries and work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure all school objectives are met.

  • Project Management: Oversee administrative projects from start to finish with a keen eye for detail and the ability to proofread quickly and effectively.

  • Discretion & Confidentiality: Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality regarding student and school data.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven Experience: Significant experience in a senior administrative or office management role, ideally within the education sector or a complex data-management environment.

  • Resilient Leader: Ability to lead a small team, prioritise conflicting demands, and remain calm under pressure.

  • Exceptional Communicator: High level of interpersonal skills to interact sensitively and flexibly with both children and adults.

  • Professional Standards: A "pleasant, professional, and proficient" approach with a commitment to accuracy and neatness.
