Year 6 Teaching Assistant - Blackburn (BB1)

Location: Blackburn, Lancashire (Postcode: BB1)

Pay: £13.68 - £14.20 per hour

Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time

Hours: 08:45 - 15:20 (Monday to Friday)

The Role

Are you a motivated and proactive individual looking for a Year 6 Teaching Assistant job in Blackburn? We are looking for a confident TA to join an ambitious Upper Key Stage 2 team in the BB1 area.

Year 6 is a critical year for our pupils as they prepare for their SATs and the transition to secondary school. We need someone who can inspire confidence, boost academic attainment, and provide high-quality pastoral care during this important final year of primary education.

Your Daily Schedule:

  • 08:45 - 15:20: Core classroom support and interventions.

  • Welfare Period (30 mins): Supporting student wellbeing and playground safety.

  • Dinner Break (30 mins): Unpaid break.

Key Responsibilities:

  • SATs Preparation: Assisting with booster groups in Maths, SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation, and Grammar), and Reading.

  • Small Group Interventions: Working with pupils of all abilities to close learning gaps.

  • Welfare & Wellbeing: Providing pastoral support and supervising students during the welfare period to ensure a positive school environment.

  • Secondary Transition: Helping pupils develop the independence and organisational skills needed for Year 7.

  • Administrative Support: Assisting the Year 6 lead with marking, resource prep, and classroom displays.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience in Key Stage 2 (KS2) is highly desirable.

  • Academic Strength: Strong literacy and numeracy skills are essential to support the Year 6 curriculum.

  • Qualifications: Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred).

  • Location: Must be able to commute easily to the BB1 / Central Blackburn area.

  • Compliance: Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
