SEN Teaching Assistant (Speech & Language Support) - Secondary School - Waltham Forest
Start date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time (term-time only), long-term
Location: Waltham Forest
Pay: £95-£110 per day

A secondary school in Waltham Forest is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to work alongside the speech and language therapist and support students with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).

About the role:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group speech and language interventions
  • Supporting understanding of vocabulary, instructions and verbal reasoning
  • Assisting students in accessing the mainstream curriculum
  • Helping to monitor speech and language targets alongside therapists
  • Building student confidence in communication and social interaction

About you:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SLCN or language delay
  • Knowledge of common interventions (e.g., colourful semantics, PECs, Makaton)
  • Clear, confident communicator with strong literacy skills
  • Committed to inclusive education and removing barriers to learning
  • Enhanced DBS required
