1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant Opportunity
Tradewind Recruitment is working with a specialist SEN school in North London seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with profound and multiple learning difficulties on a long-term basis.
This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs. You will play a vital role in helping a young person access learning, develop independence and participate fully in school life within a supportive specialist setting.

The Role
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide consistent support throughout the school day, working closely with teachers, therapists, support staff and families to ensure the pupil receives the highest quality educational and pastoral support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
- Support the pupil during lessons, transitions, break times and wider school activities
- Help the pupil access learning and engage in school life
- Support the delivery of relevant aspects of the EHCP
- Implement agreed learning, communication and behaviour strategies
- Promote independence, wellbeing and personal development
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
- Patient, empathetic and nurturing approach
- Commitment to inclusion and supporting pupils with additional needs
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND
- Experience supporting pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties
- Knowledge of EHCPs and personalised learning approaches
- Relevant childcare, education or SEND qualifications
Pay and Progression
Pay for this position ranges from £90 to £120 per day, depending on experience, responsibilities and assignment requirements.
The highest available rate of £120 per day would typically be offered to candidates with substantial SEND experience, previous experience supporting pupils with complex needs, strong communication and behaviour support skills, and experience delivering individualised support within specialist educational settings.
