Pay: £105-£130 per day, dependent on experience, qualifications and assignment requirements, paid weekly via PAYE

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming primary school in North London seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HLTA who is passionate about helping children achieve their full potential. You'll play a key role across the school, delivering targeted interventions, providing high-quality classroom support and covering lessons when required.

The Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will work across the school supporting teaching and learning while helping to maintain high standards of education and pupil progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver learning activities across the school, including whole-class cover when required
  • Support teachers with planning, preparation and assessment
  • Deliver targeted interventions to accelerate pupil progress
  • Support pupils of varying abilities, including those with SEND
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning
  • Create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
  • Monitor and record pupil progress where appropriate
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, support staff and families

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • HLTA status or relevant equivalent qualification
  • Experience supporting teaching and learning in a primary school
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Confidence leading groups and whole-class learning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a school team
  • Commitment to supporting pupil progress and wellbeing

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience delivering interventions across different year groups
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND
  • Knowledge of the primary curriculum

Pay and Progression

Pay for this position ranges from £105 to £130 per day, depending on experience, qualifications and assignment requirements.
The highest available rate of £130 per day would typically be offered to candidates with substantial HLTA experience, proven whole-class teaching experience, strong intervention delivery skills, SEND knowledge and the ability to work independently across multiple year groups.
