Are you passionate about supporting young people with their mental health and wellbeing? Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting for a compassionate and resilient Mental Health Teaching Assistant to work in a welcoming secondary school in the Corby area.
This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who have experience supporting children or young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, or for graduates looking to pursue a career in psychology, counselling, social work, youth work or teaching.
The Role
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to students who require additional emotional and behavioural support to access their education. Working closely with teaching staff and the school's pastoral team, you will help students regulate their emotions, build positive relationships, improve engagement in learning, and develop confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
You may support students on a one-to-one basis, in small groups, or within the classroom, adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
We are looking for candidates who:
Have experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH needs.
Are calm, patient and resilient when managing challenging behaviour.
Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Are passionate about promoting positive mental health and wellbeing.
Hold a degree in Psychology or a related subject, or have relevant support experience (desirable but not essential).
Have, or are willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
