Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Wirral

Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience supporting young people in education?
We're seeking a motivated and compassionate Psychology Graduate to join a supportive secondary school on the Wirral as a Teaching Assistant, working closely with students who may need additional academic, emotional, or behavioural support.

This role is ideal for graduates considering a future career in education, educational psychology, mental health, or youth work.

What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups across the classroom

  • Assisting pupils with additional needs, including SEN, SEMH, and behavioural challenges

  • Helping students stay engaged, regulated, and focused during lessons

  • Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support learning and wellbeing

  • Implementing strategies to support emotional regulation, confidence, and behaviour

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage progress

What we're looking for:

  • A Psychology degree (or related subject)

  • A genuine interest in child development, mental health, or special educational needs

  • Confidence working with secondary-aged pupils (11-16)

  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach

  • Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude

  • Previous experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential)
