Sports Teaching Assistant - Tower Hamlets
Location: Tower Hamlets, East London
Start Date: ASAP / September Start
Contract: Full-time | Term-time
Pay: Competitive daily rate (dependent on experience)
A welcoming primary/secondary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking an enthusiastic Sports Teaching Assistant to support pupils both in the classroom and through physical education and sports-based activities.
Role Responsibilities
Supporting pupils in lessons using sports and physical activity to promote engagement
Assisting with PE lessons, sports clubs, and extracurricular activities
Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils who benefit from active learning
Encouraging teamwork, confidence, and positive behaviour
Supporting pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural development
Working closely with teachers to adapt activities to suit different abilities
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
A background in sports, coaching, or physical education
Experience working with children or young people (school, club, or community setting)
High energy, positive attitude, and strong communication skills
Ability to motivate and engage pupils through sport
A genuine passion for health, fitness, and education
Desirable (Not Essential)
Coaching qualifications (e.g. FA, Level 1/2 Coaching, Sports Science)
Experience supporting SEND or behavioural needs
First Aid or safeguarding training
