Behaviour Teaching Assistant - Newham

Location: Newham, East London
Start Date: ASAP / September Start
Contract: Full-time | Term-time
Pay: Competitive daily rate (dependent on experience)

A supportive primary/secondary school in Newham is seeking a Behaviour Teaching Assistant to work closely with pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support.

Role Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with challenging behaviour

  • Supporting positive behaviour strategies and behaviour intervention plans

  • Assisting pupils with emotional regulation and social skills development

  • Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff

  • Promoting a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment

  • Supporting pupils during transitions, breaktimes, and interventions

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience supporting pupils with behavioural needs (school, SEND, youth work, or care setting)

  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach

  • Strong communication and de-escalation skills

  • Understanding of safeguarding and behaviour management strategies

  • A genuine passion for supporting young people

Desirable (Not Essential)

  • Team Teach / behaviour management training

  • Experience with SEMH, ADHD, or ASD

  • Background in youth work, mentoring, or sports coaching
