Secondary schools across Northampton are offering exciting opportunities for Sport Graduates to join their PE departments as support staff from October 2025. This is the perfect chance to gain valuable school-based experience, develop your confidence, and help young people thrive through physical education. For the right candidates, there is the potential to progress into teacher training - either through in-school routes such as School Direct, or via university-based training, with full support from the school.
Whether you're considering a future in teaching, coaching, or youth work, this role offers a supportive and hands-on route into the education sector.
The Role:
Support the delivery of PE lessons across Key Stage 3 and 4, under the guidance of qualified teachers
Lead warm-ups, assist in setting up equipment, and help manage groups during lessons and activities
Run lunchtime or after-school clubs, promoting inclusive sport for all abilities
Encourage positive attitudes to health, fitness, and teamwork
Help organise and deliver inter-school sports events, enrichment days, and school fixtures
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Holds a degree in Sport, Sport Science, Physical Education, or a related field
Passionate about working with young people and making sport accessible and enjoyable
Confident, enthusiastic, and keen to learn
Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
Experience working with children or in coaching settings is desirable, but not essential
Open to working flexibly across a range of schools and sports
