Teaching Assistant - Secondary Schools (Nailsea and Backwell) - November starts

Join our team as a Teaching Assistant in one of our fantastic secondary schools in the Nailsea and Backwell + Portishead area this November

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking enthusiastic, dedicated, and motivated Teaching Assistants to work in a range of dynamic secondary schools in and around Nailsea and Backwell + Portishead. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals considering a career in education or looking to gain valuable experience in a school setting.

Role Details:

Position: Teaching Assistant - Secondary Schools
Location: Nailsea and Backwell, North Somerset
Start Date: November 2025
Contract: Full-time, term-time only
Salary: Competitive, based on experience (£90 - £110 a day)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students inside and outside the classroom to help them reach their full potential
  • Assisting teachers with lesson planning, classroom management, and pupil engagement
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support, including for students with special educational needs (SEN)
  • Working within a dedicated SEN unit based in a mainstream school setting, supporting pupils with additional learning needs in a tailored and nurturing environment
  • Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • A genuine interest in education and a desire to support young people
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, resilience, and a proactive approach
  • Previous experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential)
  • A valid DBS check or willingness to obtain one
