Job Description
At Tradewind Recruitment, we believe that every young person deserves someone in their corner - someone patient, encouraging and committed to helping them thrive.
We're proud to be working with several specialist alternative learning provisions who are on the hunt for compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistants who can make a genuine difference to students who need support beyond the mainstream classroom.
About the Settings
These specialist provisions support children and young people who may be:
- At risk of exclusion from mainstream school
- Managing social, emotional, or mental health needs
- Experiencing anxiety, trauma, or challenges with behaviour
- In need of a smaller, more personalised learning environment
The provisions work with primary and secondary-age learners. Class sizes are usually small, allowing staff to build strong relationships and tailor support to individual needs. The teams you will be working alongside will be experienced, supportive and committed to helping pupils re-engage with education, grow in confidence and make positive progress.
About the Role
In this varied and rewarding position, you will:
- Support teaching and learning in small group and 1:1 sessions across multiple settings
- Assist in delivering personalised lessons across the curriculum
- Help pupils manage their emotions, behaviour and wellbeing
- Contribute to an inclusive, safe, and nurturing environment
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals
- Support the development of social and communication skills
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people, ideally with additional or complex needs
- Is calm, consistent and emotionally resilient
- Builds trust and rapport with learners from diverse backgrounds
- Communicates well with staff, families and external agencies
- Can adapt approaches to meet individual needs and varied school settings
