Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with Down Syndrome in a Key Stage 1 classroom. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a supportive and inclusive primary school.

The Role:

  • Provide individualised support to a child with Down Syndrome, helping them access learning and develop key skills
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement strategies tailored to the child's needs
  • Assist with academic tasks, social development, and personal care if required
  • Encourage independence and confidence while supporting the child's emotional and educational progress
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment

Requirements:

✅ Experience working 1:1 with children with SEN, particularly Down Syndrome (preferred)
✅ A patient, caring, and proactive approach
✅ Strong communication skills to collaborate with teachers, parents, and external specialists
✅ Ability to adapt and tailor support to individual learning needs
✅ Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
