Nursery Assistant | Early Years

Guildford, Surrey | Full-time | Long-term temporary position

Start date: ASAP
Pay: £93-£100 per day PAYE, dependent on experience and qualifications
Age range: Early Years, primarily 1-3 years

Tradewind Recruitment is looking for an experienced Nursery Assistant to join an Early Years setting in Guildford on a full-time, long-term temporary basis.

The role would suit someone with previous nursery or Early Years experience, particularly supporting children aged 1-3 years.

You'll support children's learning and development through play, early communication and age-appropriate activities, while helping to create a safe, nurturing and engaging environment. Depending on the needs of the setting, you may also provide individual or small-group support to children with additional needs.

The Role

Responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting children aged 1-3 years within an Early Years environment.
  • Providing engaging, play-based learning opportunities.
  • Supporting children's early communication, language and social development.
  • Supporting individual children or small groups where required.
  • Providing appropriate support for children with SEND.
  • Encouraging children's confidence, independence and participation.
  • Supporting daily nursery routines and activities.
  • Preparing learning resources and activities.
  • Working collaboratively with Early Years practitioners, SENCOs and other staff.
  • Monitoring children's engagement and sharing relevant observations with colleagues.
  • Following safeguarding procedures and supporting children's wellbeing.

Who Should Apply?

We're looking for candidates with recent experience working with young children within a nursery, children's centre or similar Early Years setting.

You'll need:

  • Relevant experience supporting children within an Early Years, education, care or SEND setting.
  • Experience working with children aged approximately 1-3 years.
  • A good understanding of children's early learning and development.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A patient, caring and adaptable approach.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of an Early Years team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and supporting children's wellbeing.

Experience supporting children with SEND, including on a 1:1 basis, is desirable.

Relevant Level 3 Early Years or childcare qualifications are also desirable and may include:

  • Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator).
  • Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (CACHE).
  • Level 3 Diploma in Children's Care, Learning and Development (CCLD).
  • Level 3 NVQ in Children's Care, Learning and Development.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Montessori Pedagogy.
  • Other relevant Level 3 Early Years or childcare qualifications.

Pay

£93 per day PAYE

For candidates with a minimum of 3 months' relevant experience supporting children or young people within an education, Early Years, care or SEND setting.

£100 per day PAYE

For candidates who hold a relevant Level 3 qualification and have over 12 months' relevant experience supporting children, including appropriate SEND or personal care experience.
