Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming school in the Castle Point area of Essex from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant or someone with relevant experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
The Role
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the school's SEN team to provide tailored support to pupils who require additional help with their learning, development and wellbeing.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN
Supporting pupils to access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons
Helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and social skills
Supporting children with a range of additional needs
Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
Implementing individual learning and support strategies
Working closely with teachers and the SENCO to meet pupils' needs
Supporting pupils with their emotional and social development
Helping to create a positive, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment
Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for someone who is patient, caring, resilient and enthusiastic, with a genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential.
Previous experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable. Experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties or complex learning needs would be advantageous.
You may be an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Care Worker, Youth Worker or someone with relevant transferable experience.
