Teaching Assistant - SEND Support

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with additional needs?

Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to work across a variety of primary schools in the Chesterfield area.

This role involves supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and thrive within the classroom environment.

We are particularly looking for candidates with experience supporting children with:

  • ADHD
  • ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)
  • Social, emotional, and behavioural needs

The Role

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assisting the class teacher with classroom activities
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Supporting children with emotional regulation and communication needs
  • Adapting learning approaches to suit individual pupils

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience working with children with SEND in a school or similar setting
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach
  • A Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
  • A Team Teach qualification (beneficial)
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
