Unqualified English Teacher - Northampton
Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire
Start Date: ASAP or September 2026
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term (with potential to become permanent)
Salary: £120-£175 per day (depending on experience and level of school support)

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a well-regarded secondary school in Northampton seeking a committed Unqualified English Teacher to join their English department either ASAP or from September 2026. This is a full-time, long-term role with strong potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

This opportunity is ideal for graduates or individuals with strong English knowledge who are looking to build classroom experience and progress towards a future in teaching.

The Role:

  • Delivering planned English lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
  • Supporting students to develop literacy, comprehension, and analytical skills
  • Encouraging engagement with a wide range of texts and improving written communication
  • Maintaining a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Adapting learning to meet the needs of students of varying abilities
  • Working alongside experienced English teachers to develop effective classroom practice
  • Supporting departmental activities and contributing to the wider school community

About You:

  • A degree in English, Literature, Creative Writing, or a related subject (or strong subject knowledge)
  • Experience working with young people is beneficial but not essential
  • Confident communicator with the ability to lead a classroom
  • Organised, reliable, and eager to learn and develop professionally
  • Passionate about education and interested in pursuing a career in teaching
  • Considering future training routes such as PGCE, SCITT, or School Direct
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to apply for one
