Year 2 Teaching Assistant
Are you a dedicated and nurturing Teaching Assistant looking for a stable role in a close-knit school community? Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a passionate Year 2 Teaching Assistant to join a lovely one-form entry primary school in Wigan.
This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible. Due to the needs of the school, this is an ongoing role with the potential to continue for the full academic year and beyond.
As a one-form entry school, this setting offers a unique, family-oriented atmosphere. You will be working alongside a highly experienced Year 2 teacher who is looking for a "right-hand person" to help prepare pupils for their transition into Key Stage 2.
The Role
Your day-to-day will involve supporting a class of approximately 30 pupils, ensuring they remain engaged and supported. Key responsibilities include:
Small Group Interventions: Leading focused sessions in Phonics (ideally Read Write Inc. or Little Wandle), reading, and basic numeracy.
SATs Preparation: Providing gentle encouragement and academic support to pupils as they navigate their Year 2 assessments.
Inclusive Support: Working closely with pupils of varying abilities, including those with mild SEN or EAL requirements.
Creative Learning: Assisting with classroom displays and setting up engaging learning stations.
Requirements
To be successful in this application, you must:
Hold a relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
Have recent experience working within a Key Stage 1 (KS1) setting.
Possess a strong understanding of the Year 2 curriculum and phonics schemes.
Be a team player with a proactive approach to classroom tasks.
Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
Have the legal right to work in the UK
