About the Role
We are recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants / Support Workers to work in a specialist educational setting supporting children and young people with complex physical, medical and learning needs in the NG12 area.
This is a hands-on support role requiring confidence with moving and handling, including the use of hoists and mobility equipment, as well as supporting pupils within the classroom and with personal care where required.
About the School
The setting is a special school for pupils with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties, including physical disabilities and complex needs. Staff work closely with teachers, therapists and care teams to provide a safe, structured and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with mobility, positioning and transfers
- Safe use of hoists and slings in line with care plans
- Assisting with personal care and daily routines
- Supporting learning activities and engagement in class
- Working in line with individual risk assessments and EHCPs
Essential Requirements
✔ Moving & Handling of People (education or care-based)
✔ Hoist & Sling Training (practical preferred)
✔ Experience working with SEND children or young people
✔ Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or willing to apply)
✔ Right to work in the UK
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Experience in special schools
- Team Teach / Positive Handling / MAPA
- Personal care experience
- Safeguarding or Health & Safety training
