Job Description
Teaching Assistant
Location: South Northamptonshire
Setting: Alternative Provision (New Site)
Contract: Permanent
Recruitment Partner: Tradewind
We are proud to be working exclusively with a high-quality Alternative Provision school that is opening a brand-new site in South Northamptonshire. As part of this exciting expansion, the school is seeking a Qualified Teaching Assistant to join their growing team on a permanent basis.
This specialist provision supports young people who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education, alongside students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and additional learning requirements. The school operates with a strong emphasis on small class sizes, with no more than six students per class, enabling staff to deliver highly personalised support and build strong, trusting relationships.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside a Tutor within a consistent class team, supporting students both academically and pastorally. You will play a key role in helping learners access the curriculum, regulate their emotions, and re-engage with education. Responsibilities will include in-class support, behaviour management, delivering small-group or 1:1 interventions, and contributing to individual support plans.
This role would suit a Teaching Assistant who already holds a relevant TA qualification and has experience working with children or young people with SEMH or additional needs. You will be confident supporting challenging behaviour, adaptable in your approach, and committed to maintaining a calm, structured learning environment.
The school is widely recognised as a fantastic place to work, with a strong and supportive leadership team that places staff wellbeing, professional development, and collaboration at the heart of its ethos. All staff are supported on clear progression pathways, with access to high-quality CPD, specialist training, and opportunities to progress into higher-level roles, including HLTA or specialist support positions.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking alternative provision at a key stage of growth, where your experience and contribution will be genuinely valued.
If you are a qualified Teaching Assistant looking for a meaningful role in a supportive, specialist setting, this opportunity offers both challenge and long-term career development.
