SEN Learning Support Assistant
Location: North Somerset (Weston-super-Mare or Nailsea)
Start: ASAP / Ongoing
Contract: Full-time or part-time, term time only
We are currently recruiting caring and committed SEN Learning Support Assistants to work across schools in North Somerset, supporting pupils in Weston-super-Mare or Nailsea.
This role is ideal for someone who already has experience working in a school setting and is either experienced in Special Educational Needs or keen to develop their skills within SEN support.
The role:
As a SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils with additional needs, both in the classroom and on a 1:1 or small-group basis. You will help create a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment where pupils feel safe and able to engage.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD, SEMH or learning difficulties
- Providing in-class support and targeted interventions
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, engagement and routines
- Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
- Working collaboratively as part of a supportive school team
What we're looking for:
- Previous experience working in a school setting (essential)
- Experience within SEN is desirable, but a genuine interest in developing SEN skills is welcomed
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in Weston-super-Mare or Nailsea
