SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Kingston Upon Thames
Contract: January - July 2026
Role: Full-time
Hours: 8:45am - 4:00pm
Tradewind are recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a highly regarded specialist SEN school for secondary-aged pupils with complex ASD in Kingston Upon Thames. The school offers a structured, nurturing environment with a strong emphasis on a personalised curriculum, communication development, emotional regulation, and independence.
Role & Requirements
Support secondary-aged pupils with complex Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) on a 1:1 and small-group basis
Deliver support in line with EHCP targets and individual support plans
Assist pupils in accessing a highly personalised and differentiated curriculum tailored to individual learning needs and developmental stages
Implement and support sensory integration and regulation strategies, including sensory breaks and structured interventions
Use visual supports, clear routines, and communication strategies to promote engagement and understanding
Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and positive behaviour support plans, including de-escalation techniques
Promote independence, social skills, and life skills throughout the school day
Work flexibly across different year groups and classes to meet pupil needs
Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team
Demonstrate patience, resilience, and a calm approach to challenging situations
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, or a strong passion for building a career in SEN education
Compliance Requirements:
Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
Right to work in the UK
