SEMH Teaching Assistant
Borough: Hammersmith & Fulham
Start Date: January - July 2026
Hours: 8:30am - 3:00pm, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only

A supportive and forward-thinking SEMH primary school located near Putney Bridge is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2026. This rewarding role involves supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs to access the mainstream curriculum at a differentiated level, enabling them to make strong academic and personal progress.

The school is easily accessible by both local bus routes and the District Line, offering a welcoming environment and a collaborative staff team committed to transforming outcomes for pupils with additional needs.

  • Skilled in effective behaviour management

  • Experienced working within SEN settings

  • Confident supporting children with complex behaviour needs

  • Calm, resilient, and able to build positive, trusting relationships


Ideal SEMH TA Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs

  • Understanding of trauma-informed approaches

  • Ability to deliver differentiated learning

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Patience, empathy, and resilience

  • Ability to follow behaviour plans and contribute to de-escalation strategies

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare

  • Ability to work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff

  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn


TA Compliance Requirements

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)

  • Valid references covering the last two years

  • Proof of address and relevant ID

  • Up-to-date CV detailing full education and employment history

  • Overseas police check (if applicable)
