SEMH Teaching Assistant
Borough: Hammersmith & Fulham
Start Date: January - July 2026
Hours: 8:30am - 3:00pm, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only
A supportive and forward-thinking SEMH primary school located near Putney Bridge is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2026. This rewarding role involves supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs to access the mainstream curriculum at a differentiated level, enabling them to make strong academic and personal progress.
The school is easily accessible by both local bus routes and the District Line, offering a welcoming environment and a collaborative staff team committed to transforming outcomes for pupils with additional needs.

Skilled in effective behaviour management
Experienced working within SEN settings
Confident supporting children with complex behaviour needs
Calm, resilient, and able to build positive, trusting relationships
Ideal SEMH TA Requirements
Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs
Understanding of trauma-informed approaches
Ability to deliver differentiated learning
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Patience, empathy, and resilience
Ability to follow behaviour plans and contribute to de-escalation strategies
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
Ability to work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff
Proactive attitude and willingness to learn
TA Compliance Requirements
Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
Valid references covering the last two years
Proof of address and relevant ID
Up-to-date CV detailing full education and employment history
Overseas police check (if applicable)
