SEN Teaching Assistant - SLD School Setting - Rossendale
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Rossendale
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Daily Rate: £13.89 - £15.89 per hour

Tradewind Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a specialist SEN school in Rossendale. We are looking to appoint a compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to support students aged 11-16 with Autism (ASC), PMLD and SLD .

This is a full-time role, starting as soon as possible, offering a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting pupils with Autism, PMLD and SLD both in the classroom and on a 1:1 basis. You'll collaborate with teachers and therapists to create a supportive, structured learning environment that promotes independence, communication, and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students with Autism, PMLD and SLD across a range of abilities and needs
  • Assisting with the implementation of EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Supporting the delivery of tailored lessons and activities
  • Encouraging social interaction and inclusion in school life

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly Autism
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • A commitment to professional development (CPD)
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
