Sporty Teaching Assistant (Full-Time) - SEMH Secondary School

Location: Chatham, Medway
Pay Rate: £88 - £90 per day

Are you an energetic, sporty individual who's passionate about inspiring young people and supporting them to reach their potential? Tradewind are seeking a Sporty Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team at an SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Secondary School in the Chatham area of Medway.

The Role:

As a Sporty Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH) in both classroom and sports-based settings.

  • Use sport and physical activity as a tool to motivate, engage, and build relationships with students.

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to help students manage emotions, develop social skills, and improve learning outcomes.

  • Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.

  • Model positive behaviour, teamwork, and perseverance on and off the pitch.


What We're Looking For:

  • A sporty, energetic, and resilient individual with a genuine interest in supporting young people with SEMH needs.

  • Previous experience in education, youth work, sports coaching, or mentoring is desirable.

  • A valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle (essential).

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.

  • Patience, empathy, and a calm, encouraging approach to behaviour management.

Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel up to an hour to work.

  • Legal right to work in the UK.

  • Experience working with children or young people with additional or SEMH needs is advantageous.

  • Flexibility, resilience, and a positive, proactive attitude.

  • Hold, or be willing to apply for, an enhanced DBS (child workforce) on the update service.
