SANZA Teaching Agency are recruiting on behalf of an enriching and inspiring primary school in Havering.

They are seeking a caring, patient, and skilled teaching assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a child in reception who has Autism.

The student is pre-verbal, so the successful candidate will have a strong understanding of speech and language development and be able to support communication in creative, engaging ways.

The role:

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support to a reception pupil with Autism
  • Provide daily and ongoing support with speech and language development
  • Come up with fun and creative activities that will support the student's speech and language development
  • Implement strategies to encourage communication and interaction
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals

The ideal teaching assistant:

  • Will have experience supporting children with Autism in an educational setting
  • A strong understanding of early years development
  • Be familiar with pre-verbal communication approaches (e.g. PECS, Makaton)
  • Compassionate, patient, and committed to helping every child reach their potential
  • Must be able to work independently and be genuinely interested in designing a variety of different activities that will support the student's speech and language development
