Teacher of the Deaf - Primary School, Islington
Salary: £58,094 - £62,771 (UPS1-3 + SEN Allowance, depending on experience) Daily rate would be: £284.18-£308.16 per day PAYE
Contract: Full-time, long term
Start Date: September 2025 until July 2026

We are seeking a Teacher of the Deaf to lead and develop our specialist provision for children with Hearing Impairment and complex SEND needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape and elevate high-quality education and care for Deaf pupils, ensuring that each child reaches their full potential in a nurturing and empowering environment.

As our new Teacher of the Deaf, you will:

  • Strategically lead the Deaf Provision, working closely with the SENDCo, senior leadership, and external agencies.

  • Deliver personalised teaching and intervention for pupils with Hearing Impairment.

  • Use BSL confidently and fluently to ensure access to learning, communication, and social development.

  • Support and train mainstream staff in BSL, Deaf Awareness, and inclusive SEND strategies.

  • Monitor progress, assess needs, and develop targeted plans for pupils with Hearing Impairment and wider SEND needs.

The successful Teacher of the Deaf will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status and be a fully qualified Teacher of the Deaf.

  • Be highly experienced in working with children with Hearing Impairment, BSL communication, and inclusive SEND practices.

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of Deaf culture, identity, and the specific educational needs of pupils with Hearing Impairment.

  • Be a skilled communicator and advocate for Deaf pupils within both the school and wider community.

  • Inspire and lead others with a vision for exceptional, inclusive education.
