YEAR 6 TEACHER AND HEAD OF MATHS

About the Role - Year 6 Teacher & Maths Subject Leader

As the school's first Year 6 Teacher, you'll have the unique opportunity to create a purposeful and dynamic learning environment for a small class of engaged pupils. You'll work closely with the Headteacher and Head of English to develop schemes of work that prepare children for 11+ exams, scholarship applications and future senior schools.

This is a full teaching role with additional responsibilities as Head of Maths, overseeing the Maths curriculum from Reception to Year 6 and nurturing a love of the subject throughout the school.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Full-time Year 6 Teacher role, teaching across the curriculum with a focus on 11+ preparation
  • Designing engaging lessons based on the National Curriculum, the school's thematic curriculum and 11+ requirements
  • Leading enrichment activities after the 11+ exams to challenge and inspire pupils
  • Coordinating Maths teaching across all year groups, supporting staff and refining schemes of work
  • Developing whole-school Maths initiatives, competitions and themed events
  • Working with SLT to ensure outstanding progress and outcomes in Maths

About You - Year 6 Teacher

We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and confident Year 6 Teacher with a passion for both Upper Key Stage 2 teaching and Maths leadership.

You'll bring:

  • Proven success as a Year 6 Teacher or Upper KS2 teacher
  • Excellent subject knowledge in Maths, with the ability to lead and inspire colleagues
  • Experience preparing pupils for 11+ exams (desirable but not essential)
  • A commitment to pastoral care, individualised learning and academic excellence
  • Strong communication and organisation skills
  • A genuine enthusiasm for contributing to school life beyond the classroom

  • QTS and experience teaching Upper KS2
