Job Description
Our client is a securely good school (Ofsted 2019) and is seeking someone who will play a critical role in fostering a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all students, particularly those who may experience behavioural or emotional challenges.
About the Role:
Working closely with the Assistant Head teacher for Inclusion, you will support students in developing healthy social interactions, resilience, and coping strategies. You will also assist in implementing behaviour management plans and contributing to the wellbeing and mental health of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students facing behavioural, emotional, or social challenges, building their confidence and self-awareness
- Assist in implementing positive behaviour strategies, including individualised behaviour support plans, in collaboration with the AHT for Inclusion and SENCO
- Promote social and emotional wellbeing by leading or participating in activities that encourage positive social interactions and emotional regulation
- Actively support mental health initiatives, helping students develop skills in managing anxiety, stress, and emotional resilience
- Collaborate closely with teachers and other school staff to monitor and address behavioural concerns, providing feedback on student progress
- Record and report incidents or concerns, maintaining accurate records to support communication with staff, parents/carers, and external agencies as needed
- Encourage and model positive behaviour, respect, and empathy, setting a constructive example for students
We are seeking someone who:
- Previous experience in a similar role supporting students with behavioural or emotional needs (experience with mental health or pastoral support is highly desirable)
- An understanding of behaviour management techniques, mental health first aid, and or other relevant experience
- Minimum GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent); further education or relevant experience in an education support role
- A valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
