English Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Slough
Start Date: September 2025
Location: Slough
Contract: Full-time, Fixed Term (September 2025 - July 2026)

A welcoming and high-achieving secondary school in Slough is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic English Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team from September. This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent English graduate or someone with equivalent qualifications who is looking to gain experience in education.

About the Role:
As an English Teaching Assistant, you will play a key part in supporting students' progress and confidence in English, both in and out of the classroom. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils in English lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
  • Delivering targeted literacy interventions to small groups or individual students
  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of engaging lesson activities
  • Providing support for students with additional learning needs, including SEN and EAL
  • Helping students improve their reading, writing, and analytical skills
  • Monitoring and recording student progress and providing feedback to teachers
  • Creating and maintaining a positive and encouraging learning environment

This role is ideal for someone considering a future in teaching, as it offers excellent exposure to classroom dynamics and high-quality teaching practice.

Requirements:

  • A degree in English or equivalent is essential
  • A strong academic background with excellent literacy skills
  • Previous experience working with young people is desirable but not essential
  • A proactive, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff
